Intro to Oil Painting: Florals

This workshop is designed to support all skill levels. We'll briefly cover studio setup and safety, how to choose a reference and begin a painting, and the fundamentals of composition, color, and value. Jess will guide you through a live painting demonstration and share her process for painting flowers in her signature expressive style. You'll create your very own floral still life to take home and be equipped with the knowledge and experience to support your own oil painting practice. All materials will be provided.

Our Policies:

  • Please arrive 10 minutes early for your workshop. Workshops start on time. If you are more that 15 minutes late for your class, you may forfeit your chance to take the class.

  • You may cancel for a refund up to 21 days before the workshop. After that, workshop fees are not refundable or transferable.

  • We reserve the right cancel or reschedule a workshop with fewer than 4 sign ups. If you cannot attend the rescheduled date, you will receive a refund.

  • Please note that we may take photos during the workshop to use on social media. If you do wish to be photographed, please let the teacher know when you arrive.

  • If you are sick, please stay home. Call or email to let us know that you are not coming. \

  • Last minute cancellations are extremely challenging for our guest teachers. Often times, materials have been purchased and meticulously prepared ahead of time. Keep in mind that late cancellations are a financial burden on these very special artists.

With a passionate love of all things botanical and painterly, Jess Currier developed her voice as an artist through expressive studies of landscapes, flowers, and portraits. She is best known for her large scale figurative oil paintings overlaid with floral patterns. Jess earned her BFA in Painting from York College of Pennsylvania and her MFA from Academy of Art University, where she also studied painting in Florence, Italy. Her work has been exhibited across the United States and Europe and is collected worldwide. She spends her time painting, teaching, and building creative community from her studio in Los Angeles, California.
